Diamonds are a girls best friend, or so they say. It is every girls dream to receive that almighty diamond rock carefully inserted in to the engagement ring that is being handed to her by no other than Mr ‘the one’ of course!

What do blokes like in return? Unless it is a leap year, and your girl is really really into to you and verging on almost psychotic obsessive behaviour, then, as a bloke there aint a chance in hell in getting any engagement gift whatsoever.

Yes that’s right blokes shell out thousands and thousands of pounds, dollars, yen (let’s just say currency in general shall we?) for marked up and precisely polished, cut to shape and glittering stunning precious diamond rings.

In the modern day and age where tradition has almost abandoned us the act of men purchasing engagement rings for intended spouses has remained.

Why cannot a new tradition be written up to conform to the equal standards of today whereby Men get, “well maybe not a diamond ring, but how about”- a watch.

It’s a fact, and a sweeping statement…Men like watches, women like diamonds. Each item sets a social status for the bearer. Why can’t the contract of marriage (as it has become in recent years) be sealed with a two way bearing of gifts. So the man proposes with his diamond rings and a woman reciprocates the proposal offering watches as a form of acceptance. What do you think? Much more civilised, eh?

Hell, I’m not the type of person to buy diamond rings overnight…If I’m going to shell out this amount wodge of cash, there’s gotta be a happy medium! I just hope my future spouse will see the point…but that’s another story…a woman’s prerogative etcetera…big yarns!
